David attended McMaster and Brock Universities earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Administration and Economics. After graduation, he learned about claims adjusting from a friend already in the industry and he liked the idea of doing investigative field work. So, when the opportunity presented itself, a career in insurance was an easy choice.
Today, with 38 years of claims adjusting experience, primarily in the Greater Toronto area, David has worked with all types of claims – from minor property losses to catastrophic commercial losses. In addition to working as a staff adjuster for an insurance company and for a national adjusting firm for many years, David owned an independent adjusting firm for 14 years, overseeing nine adjusters. He relocated to Muskoka in 2014.

Key strengths & specialties
Although David is effective in resolving all type of claims, he specializes in property claims and building construction. He feels strongly that every claim – whether it is 500 or 15,000 square feet – deserves the same level of attention. “I strive to return policyholders to pre-loss condition, working with respect, courtesy, professionalism and punctuality,” he explains. Below are a few additional details about David’s expertise.
David has personally bought, sold and renovated several properties so he understands the construction process from the ground-up. This is helpful in understanding differences in building materials and how to quarterback, schedule and facilitate progress involving multiple trades.
Waterfront and seasonal dwellings
Lakefront properties have unique environmental exposures – from septic systems to oil spills. Throughout his career, David has adjusted many environmental claims and understands the nuances of removing contaminates. In addition, seasonal properties that sit over the winter months frequently have mold issues and David is experienced in mold remediation claims.
