Ken holds two bachelor’s degrees: one in history and one in education. After graduation, he took a position as a telephone adjuster. Since then, he’s continued to work in the claims industry in various roles with increasing levels of responsibility.


Although he did not originally plan on a career in claims, he’s been very happy with his path. He especially enjoys the challenging and interesting nature of his work, which requires him to interact with a variety of people and apply decision making, critical thinking, negotiation and customer service skills.


In retrospect, he appreciates that his degree helped him develop the ability to gather and organize information using critical thought to reach a conclusion. He's been able to put these talents to good use in his work with claims.


He has obtained several certifications and professional memberships to develop his career. He earned his CIOP certification from the CIOP Institute and his FCIP certification from the Insurance Institute of Canada, and he’s a member of the Ontario Insurance Adjusters Association.



The personal side

Born and raised in Toronto, Ken now lives in Markham. He is married with two adult children. He is an advisory board member of the University of Toronto Scarborough College Alumni Association, and he serves as a mentor in the UTSC Partners in Leadership Alumni Mentorship Program.

As Vice President at DSB Claims, Ken Dusenbury oversees strategy, programs and claim experience. Working closely with insurance companies, municipalities, business owners he manages accounts collaboratively to build trust. Although claims can be a time of great struggle, he sees the claims process as an opportunity to turn a negative experience into a positive one.
